Catch Up on my Projects!!!!!

I have been playing with the sticks and string, as I always do. I am working on a new pattern - a Cable stitch Pullover for sizes 1 - 8 Yrs.

This one has a provisional cast on for the neckband, then it is worked multidirectional from the top down. Still, no sew knitting. It will be a while as it is kind of complicated, it may be listed as Advanced, instead of Intermediate, not sure yet.

Of course I am still working out the final numbers and knitting more samples for the Basic Cardigan, size Newborn to 3 years. It will be up and running real soon.

I still have to end the threads and sew on the buttons on the three to the left. I also have other samples in my stock that are ready for photo ops. There will be lots of options for colour and yarn. It will be in DK weight.

I also have socks on the sticks, these are for me, YEAH!

Next I have begun a pair of heavy warm socks, that will be donated to the local Conservation Club for draws at their upcoming Zone Meeting January 15. They are knit in 100% wool worsted weight. They will require careful care but boy will they be warm.

Last but not least, I have finished a pair of woollen mittens and two more Huggy Bear Cardigans for my stock.

Long Time Since the Last Post

Yes, after the Artisans' Show I was a little overwhelmed and did not know what next to do so I just knit, knit, knit, and relaxed. Now I have Callum's Moose Cardigan almost finished, I think what is keeping me from the last step, is all those tails to work in. I have finished two more Huggy Bear Sets and then I knit three pairs of Baby Mittens. They will be for Callum, hope they fit. I don't use patterns for mitts and socks, so I just take my chances. I like them, and perhaps I will do a pattern of just Baby Hats/Socks/Mittens, you never know where MommaBear will do next. For now just the mittens are ready for the camera.

Yes, the next step is the Moose Cardigan, it will be ready for Callum by Christmas, it probably will be too big for him until the spring, but he is a big boy so you never know.

Artisans' Christmas Tour

Last weekend was the event. Looking forward to 2012. I will do it again, after all, I will be knitting and designing during the next 12 months. It was a little quieter, but the experience is still awesome. Love the compliments and the sales. After all, I would need a storage building for all the stock otherwise, I cannot stop knitting and designing so this works for me:

Countdown to Oro Medonte Christmas Artisan's Tour

I am working on the final few projects for the show. Three Cardigans and Two Hats on the drying Rack. Three Cardigans and Two Hats on the table just have to end the threads, sew on buttons, and wash. Then I will start something else.

Doesn't Look Like a lot when in boxes, but it is.

I like babies and toddlers to be dressed in all colours of the rainbow. That is my goal. The show runs from 9:00 am - 7: pm Friday November 18 and 9:00 am - 4 pm on Saturday November 19. I am truly looking forward to the show, I will have lots and lots of Cardigans, Hats, Baby/Toddler Socks and even Egg Cozies, Dish Cloths and Pot Holders. I will also feature my patterns for sale as a show special. "Baby Compass" "Bernardo" "Billy & Bobby" "Junior Compass" "Hoodie Bear" & "Huggy Bear" will be on display for sale.

The 18th Annual Christmas Artisans' Tour, in Oro Medonte is coming up fast --- November 18 & 19. I have to get my stock ready. I knit right up to the night before and even during the show. I just finished another Huggy Bear Cardigan, one of many in my stock, and am working on the matching hat. I still have a lot of buttons to sew on and then I will haul out my projects growing since last year's show and get them ready to go. A lot of work but I love it.

The colour doesn't show well in the Photo, but it is a nice Cherry Tweed, size 3 Months.

Well, the KAL started as planned. Then I got distracted by a back problem that affected my Daughter Dawn in Ottawa. I started the KAL and then drove to Ottawa (5 1/2 hr drive from home) and spent a few days with her as she was in a lot of pain. I arrived back Monday, finished up my KAL project. There are others in my group still working on Bernardo and we are back on line with the comments and progress pictures.

This is my plan, Callum's Moose Cardigan

It will be in a one year old size, Callum is a big baby so hopefully it will fit him with the sleeve cuffs rolled up by late November and in the spring.

I am ready to start the body pattern now. This is not really my style of knitting, but once in a while I go off in another direction. I guess I said that before------- MommaBearKnits and she watches out for Moose as well as Bears when she is walking the Ruster Cruster after all there was a Moose spotted, tranquilized and relocated just this past week in the City of Orillia, I live outside of the city soooooooo it could happen. This design is in honour of my handsome model and his dad Marty.

Progress, this will never be a pattern

No this will never be one of my patterns, fairly easy to knit, very difficult to write, not sure if the pattern would be easy to read:

Step 1. There will be evergreen trees in the yoke.

I am using Eucalan Easy Bobs. I purchased them many years ago, never used them until now. They work well but this is not my usual style. The yoke pattern will be a circle of evergreen trees. Not totally sure what the body will be yet, keep in touch. MommaBearKnits.

New Project

As always I am knitting and designing. I have the Toddler, Hoodie ready to go, just need to get some good photos and it will be posted on Patternfish.

I decided to publish a Basic Newborn - 3 Yrs Cardigan. I have worked out short rows to make the neckline a better shape while still knitting top down and no sew. It is a plain basic cardigan. I expect that some experienced knitters will add their own border pattern or even a logo.

I have started a Cardigan that will be a gift to my Prize Model Callum. It will be a one of a kind and will be in honour of our Canadian Great Outdoors. I will post the progress as it develops, I am still planning it as I go.

So far I have the yarn, basic pattern & stitch numbers, logos on spreadsheets, etc. I even have the buttons selected, Green Trees.

It will be Oatmeal, Walnut & Emerald

Who knows, as I progress there may be more colours, I have lots to choose from in my stash.

I recently started a group on Ravelry called Knitting for Babies, it is growing and I have had the oportunity to meet knitters who knit for babies from all over the world. We recently completed a KAL on my pattern "Billy & Bobby". Another sample finished. The feedback was awesome and the ideas and questions will help me with my next project.

Circular Stash

Today, I decided to sort through my Needles, oh my Gawd!!!!

And, this is not all of them as I have quite a few UFO's in knitting bags around the house, if I finished them the stack of needles would be even bigger. I have my Mom's needles from way back, my needles from the last, I guess, almost 60 years of knitting, and recently I was gifted the needle stash from my Sister-in-Law's mom, Florence, who is moving into a long term care facility. Of course my mom didn't even know that there would be circular needles. Florence did, she had some in her stash. I willingly accepted them, and will care for them, they will have a safe haven. I doubt that my Baby Bear (Daughter) will have any need for them, she doesn't even have a needle and thread to sew on a button, let alone knitting needles. She is a Computer Whiz. She lovingly calls me a Knitting Kook.

Oh, I cannot even remember what the long needles with only one pointed end are called. I have not used them in decades but they are still precious in my memory even if I cannot identify them by name. Well, I guess this is a Senior's Moment. No matter, I will keep them and MommaBearKnits on into the future. And she designs too.

Lately I have been having difficulty posting Comments on other blogs. I cannot get them to work when I choose my Google Account, it won't work at all and when I choose Anonymous it sometimes works but not always. I don't like the Anonymous choice anyway because I am not Anonymous I am a Knitter and I blog and display my projects. I appreciate comments and lately I hardly get any. I am setting up a poll. When I visited Callum and his Mom, she told me that she visited my blog and tried to comment on her son Callum's pictures. It didn't work for her, she does not have a google account but why couldn't she post as Anonymous? I sometime just give up because I get frustrated.

Today I went to visit Callum and his Mom, Christie. We both photographed like crazy. Callum is growing quickly and he is an excellent model: Bernardo, here we come.

I thought the Larger Red Outfit would be too big, not so, it will fit for a while but he is a big baby. He is almost 4 months and he looks good in a 6-9 month very generous pattern.

Yes, Bernardo is finished. I have a meeting set up with Callum tomorrow for pictures. Then I just have to ck the written work a few more times. It will be posted no later than Wednesday next week. I have to give myself a schedule or else I will be distracted.

Atticus - wearing the size 6 - 9 Months.

Atticus will be displayed on Patternfish as one of the pictures, but the model for this pattern is Callum aka The Bug. After all, the cardigan is inspired by his grandpa Bernard aka Bernardo. I will certainly have Atticus for other patterns in the works.

Next I am working on Bernicy & Bernie:

I have the basic cardigan drying on the towel. I have all the numbers done on spreadsheets and the basic version is 3/4 written.

Now, I have a question for any of my visitors. I have a lot of ideas for Bernicy but wonder what the knitters out there would rather see:

1. A multicoloured striped cardigan and hat. That would work as a stash buster. I think the more colours chosen the better.
2. A lacy border and cuff cardigan for a baby girl and the basic for a boy.
3. A lacy body and perhaps only yoke buttons, and the body loose and fluttery.
4. A Middle of the body and sleeves Knit/Purl Textured pattern.
5. Another Cable pattern with a more feminine look, or today does it matter if it is feminine for girls?
6. What would you like to see? I would appreciate a suggestion.
7. How about a collar?
If you would express your choice, I will welcome it and certainly try to meet your wishes. I am already starting to come up with some ideas, but can sure use your ideas, if not for this one then the next one. Now that I have the numbers done for a short row shaped neckline, there will be a few patterns based on the neckline.

Something New for Me!

I have been thinking about starting a group on Ravelry and Deb and I have been discussing the idea. So, today, I came home from Cabin Fever, with more yarn, more ideas, and a thought that I would try it. Deb was away on a Holiday and I missed her so much, It is so nice to have a mentor like Deb. She really encourages me.

So, I came home and I started a new group, it is named "Knitting for Babies". I am happy that the group already has 11 members. when I started this post there was 7 members, by the time I finished it there was 11. Less than 2 minutes after I posted it I had a member from Russia. I encourged members from all over the world as long as they were knitters for babies. I need to design a better picture for the group but that can be done in the next day or two. Guess what, I tested my link and now there are 12 members.

Awesome, Hope it works. I welcome members, ideas, pictures, thoughts, KALs, other members can promote their designs, I can promote my designs, discussions re: Just What New Mom's are looking for. We can discuss yarn weights, colours, sizes, problems, help with patterns, etc. And above all, I want to see lots of projects. Thanks Deb. MommaBearKnits.

A Scary Special Interesting Day

Yesterday morning, Rusty and I were doing our usual morning stretch of the legs. We went into the subdivision behind our house. It used to be a bush but now is a growing subdivision with lots of construction going on. We were just strolling along, Rusty was sniffing every blade of grass, he is a hounddog you know. All of a sudden, from out of the ditch came a BEAR, it looked at me, and continued across the road to the bush on the other side. It was a little distance down the road from us, thank goodness. Rusty, the hound was so busy stiffing that he missed it completely - Thank goodness for that too. I got out of the area really fast and will not go back to that spot. I described it to Jerry (PoppaBear) and his thoughts were that it was probably a young bear and was likely kicked out by it's mom not to long ago.

As you probably guessed, no pictures of that experience. I did think when I got home, that I should have offered to knit the young bear a hat or something, after all, MommaBearKnits and she should donate to a local Teen Cubby Bear. He/She may be a relative after all.

It was scary, but I must admit it was an unforgetable experience.

Another Photo Opp Day!!!

Today I had a great visit with my sister-in-law a.k.a Gramma; her Daughter a.k.a Mommy, and Sadira and Atticus the two children. Sadira is three years old and Atticus is 8 months. We dressed and undressed them until they couldn't take it anymore and complained to us that they didn't want another picture taken. I was able to get lots of pictures of my designs on the children, that is so much better than hangers.

THE ORO MEDONTE CHRISTMAS ART AND CRAFT TOUR

Yes, the Christmas Art and Craft Tour planning is on the table already. I can hardly wait. This year I will be at the Oro Medonte Fairgrounds Hall. The organizers have set up a Facebook group account for the show. It will offer the opportunity for vendors to display info and pictures and will also keep the public up to date on the event. I just joined into the facebook account and look forward to posting pictures. It is called Oro Medonte Christmas Art & Craft Tour and is available for all to view and the vendors to post pictures about their product.

I am working on Bernardo. The sizes have been upgraded to 6 sizes: Preemie/Newborn, 3, 6-9 months, 1, 2, & 3 years. I have made quite a few changes but now I have finalized the design, I just have to finish writing it, read it, knit it, check, check, check it over and over again. I do try so hard to avoid typos and errors --- that is a more difficult task than the design itself.

I have finished 5 cardigans, and am working on two more. When I knit them, little ideas pop up and I make adjustments to the pattern. All the cardigans are just fine for a baby to wear, but I like to work out little glitches and ideas before the final version is photographed for the pattern. At first I had a K2, P2 ribbed neckband bottom border and sleeve cuffs. but then I decided that the K2, P2 rib requires a multiple of 4 +2 stitches on the neckband and bottom border and a multiple of 4 stitches on the sleeve cuff. That created a little difficulty when working 6 sizes and also fitting in an arm Panel Cable Pattern. So, then I went with garterstitch. That worked better and allowed fewer stitch differences in each size, but then I realized that the bands had to be worked on a smaller needle in order to draw in the edges. Now I have it all together and am working on a final sample (Red one in the picture). They all looked good on Callum and he seemed to be comfortable, so I am confident that it will be finished and posted for sale very soon. I do have to work out a matching hat and perhaps socks, not sure about the socks, but the hat for sure.

I really like the sleeve panel and also I have worked out a way to raise the back of the neck and lower the front band of the neck. That is my one concern about top down, I like a lower neck band in the front. Bernardo has it, hope you like it.

This is a version of my current project - it will be called Bernardo

Bernardo is a new top down with the written pattern about 3/4 finished. I have worked out a neckline that drops in the front to accommodate the neckline comfort and it also provided a larger number of stitches at the beginning of the sleeves - that makes a sleeve panel easier. It will be online soon and Callum will be my model.

OH BOY!! Has it been a long time since my last post!!!!!

But, I have still been knitting and designing. Callum has been my inspiration. Also, my computer has been acting up and I considered going shopping for a new one. My last attempt to solve the problem was a total clean-up with a can of Compressed Gas Duster, ----- Yeah! It is working great again. Well, at least for now.

Today, I met with Callum and his mom. We had a great visit and we both took Pictures, over and over again. When I came home, I had a total of 99 pictures to download. My next finished pattern is called "Billy & Bobby, in honour of my sons. Callum was the model, and I am the knitter and designer.

It will be posted on Patternfish by tomorrow morning. Next I have a toddler version of Hoodie Bear in size 2-12 yrs. All I need is to get another model and then it will go as well. I am trying to get children to model them instead of just taking pictures of cardigans on a hanger. Hope to find one soon.

And I have another cardigan and hat pattern 3/4 done. It will be called "Bernardo" in honour of my brother and Callum's Grampa. MommaBearKeeps on Knitting and Designing.

I am a designer, yes I am. I am a wife, yes I am. I am a senior, yes I am. I finally realized that what I want to do is design for babies, toddlers, and children. Seeing the new moms out there with their babies is inspiring. They don't dress them like we used to. I remember when my kids were born they wore nightgowns, cute little sleepers, and beautiful hand knit sweaters, hats and booties. They were Baby Pink, Baby Blue and because we didn't have the opportunity to know if it would be a girl or boy until the arrival we always had some in white and maybe a pale green just in case. Now, you see them coming home from the hospital, less than 24 hrs old dressed in blue jeans, T-shirts and plaid jackets. There is no baby blue or baby pink anymore.

That is my inspiration - my designs will be in every colour of the rainbow and styled like a tiny teen.

I Am What I Am

For many many years I have been a knitter, sewer, quilter, crocheter and in the last few years I have designed. Also, I have been a Sister, Wife, Mom, Baby Sitter, Grandmom, Aunt, Great Aunt, Care Giver, Daughter, Daughter-in-Law, Sister-in-Law, Secretary, Salesperson, Executive Assistant, Retired, Best Friend, etc. And now my time has come to be what I am. Well, I have yet to experience being a Great Grandmom, that could happen soon as my grandchildren are 20, 18 & 16. My Grandaughter, Sarah, has become engaged to a wonderful young man ------ Great Grandmom - It could happen!!!! Hopefully she will enjoy the many knitted gifts I have in mind.

A gathering in the back yard

Yes, I am still knitting and designing for babies and more. Today we went outside and posed for a picture. Right now I am finished two patterns. That is the writting, not all the knitting.

I am working on a Hoodie Bear version in worsted weight yarn for size 2 - 12. This one is called Callum. They are a lot alike but the numbers are very different. I have one hoodie and one collared version finished and a hoodie and collared version on the needles. Just need to wash, block, knit and then photograph. It will be on Patternfish very soon.

I am also working on a multidirectional yoke with a stockinette body and a hat for a preemie to an 18 month old. It will have two border options, I am calling this one Billy and Bobby. This one is worked in DK.

It is written as well and will go on Patternfish likely the same time as Callum. I am still struggling with the Lady Compass. At least now it has a name. A lot of knitting but it will be there soon too.

Callum (formerly the "Bug") came for a visit Sunday night. I could not get over just how smart he is, just looking around and even holding my fingers with his tiny little hands. He goes everywhere with Mom and Dad. They are awesome parents and he is totally blessed to be their son. He was dressed in jean style pants and a T-shirt - sure was different in my day. I knit for him before he was born, but boy has he ever gotten me hooked now. I cannot wait for the fall, Hats, Sweaters, Socks and even Mittens will come off my needles. The fact that a tiny baby can wear a cotton T-shirt just like a teen gives me lots of inspiration.

He is only 18 days old, Wow!!!!

Of course that need will be met when I finish all my projects and patterns, in my lifetime, right? I have made a decision to finish one at a time! Yeah Right, well kind of one at a time. Sometimes a sock is just plain relaxing, I always have socks on the needle. I have a sock project on the go now, not a pattern, just my addiction to socks. I have finished the first sock, and have started the second one. Socks are my mindless knitting late at night when I am tired or when I am a passenger in the car. So I give myself permission to work on socks along with other projects.

I do have the Adult Compass pretty well written, I just have to finish those big samples, check the numbers, take the pictures and it is hot weather now and that is not good for knitting big projects with 100% wool. But I promise the pattern will be out very soon.

I know, I posted these pictures before, but I have knit quite a bit more, of the Compass Cardigans.

In my dreams I saw a Hoodie Bear in Worsted Weight, sizes 2 - 12, the original was in DK size Preemie to 18 months. Darn it, I got hooked again. The pattern is done, the numbers checked, and I just finished the size 2 and size 4 samples. I still have to knit a collared version and then it will be photographed and posted as well.

Not finished yet, but the knitting is finished.

Then another sleep, another dream and there I go again. I have started a new multidirectional baby (Preemie-18months) pattern designed for a girl and a boy.

The beginning is similar to the Baby Compass but that similarity ends at the yoke. It will have a Garter Stitch Yoke and the sleeves and body in Stockinette Stitch. There will be two or more options for the sleeve cuffs and bottom borders. I plan a lace option for the baby girl and a ribbed option for a baby boy. I may also include a third option for both, not sure. The pattern is written to the body section, then it is the sleeves and likely a hat to be completed.

I think my passion is becoming multidirectional but still no sewing. I find there is limitations when you work a top down that you don't encounter when go go off in all directions. I also decided that the Compass Logo that I created for the Compass Patterns will be included in the title as symbol of the technique in all of my future patterns that are worked North, South, East and West.

Of course there is Cabin Fever's Baby Book. That is awesome. I always learn so much from Deb when we work together on a project. Deb has so kindly included me as an Author. I have to admit that she has written most of the text and patterns, I followed along and made a few changes and helped with the final versions. Some of my ideas where taken, Some not, no problem, it was fun and boy did I learn a lot about publishing.

My passion is spreadsheets. I created a spreadsheet for each of the sizes in each of the gauges (36 pages of spreadsheets in all). That gave me the opportunity to check the patterns, charts, and pattern repeats over and over again. It really is not hard to make that many, you just have to cut and paste a lot, then adjust the gauge numbers and the beginning numbers. They work great when you are working through the patterns - neck, yoke, sleeves, body - those numbers are available at every row of the process. I cannot wait to see the printed book, I think it will go to press by mid June. Deb and Lynda have plenty of work left to do with the editing, layouts and photo selections.

I have finished, washed, blocked and dried the latest sample for the baby book.

At this time it was still in the drying stage, but now it is finished and ready to pose.

Next, as I promised I am working on my final Compass(es).

This is knit in 100% wool worsted weight - My size.

This one is in Patons Canadiana, the new generation in the second size.

The new Patons Canadiana is 100% Acrylic of course. It is very nice to knit and it looks good. It will be better for washing, but I still like the 100% wool garments better. These pictures were taken outdoors a few days ago when it looked like it was going to be spring. Then the snow fell - yuck. Oh well, Happy Easter everyone and believe me Spring will arrive soon I hope.

In the meantime I am also working on a pair of socks, what else is new, and I have not given up crocheting.

Still Knitting

I was worried that I would run out of yarn for the baby hoodie that I just finished, but I did not. So I knit two pairs of socks too.

Socks are in sock yarn single strands and the hoodie is in the same sock yarn only knit double.

Then I had another pair of children's socks on the needles, so I finish them as well.

These will fit a toddler, they are knit in acrylic sock yarn weight.

Then on Thursday Deb, Dana and I met to do a lot of finishing on the many many samples that are complete for the New Baby Book. That night I started another sample in Cabin Fever Tweed DK. It is finished, washed and blocked.

Then we went over the pile of completed samples and found that we need another border sample in sock yarn.

This one is a Border Sample, size 0 - 3 months.

I have it on my needles and it will be finished very soon I promise. Deb and Dana also have some more to knit. It is a lot of work but I enjoy being included in this project. Thanks Deb.
I will keep on crocheting too. I am getting into it again, I cannot remember how long ago I preferred crocheting over knitting, one of the reasons were that when you crochet you rarely have to sew any seams, now I have learned how to do that with knitting too.

I have also been working on the Adult Compass. Samples for adults take a long time, and my practice is to do several (if not all) sizes just to be sure there are no problems. This one will have a 7 size range, so I for sure will not be able to do all sizes, but at present I am working on the second size (36-38) and my size (44-46) after all I really need another cardigan. Yeah Right!!!!!

I have finished the knitting for the baby book sample that was posted the other day. I just have to end the tails and sew on the buttons. I will post the picture of the finished garment by tomorrow.

Thiis is where I was two three days ago

I started it some time ago but became nervous that I wouldn't have enough yarn to finish it and because it was purchased at a knit show before I even knew that the boy was on the way I have not been able to find any more, just in case.

Yes, we have been informed that it is a boy and will likely be a big boy. I was trying to figure out what to do to make sure there was enough yarn. Then, I had a light flash in my head. The baby will be born in May so a hoodie won't be suitable until the fall, he will be about 4 - 5 months old before the days cool and he will be wearing it. The baby along with his mom and dad will live in Oro-Medonte. The leaves are beautiful in late September through October in this part of Ontario and Mom and Dad are great outdoor people. Soooooooo ------ Maple Leaves it is.

Oh yah, this project is based on my Hoodie Bear Pattern but is worked in sock yarn doubled. I had to adjust the numbers a bit and I just added the border pattern for fun. If you have purchased the pattern, try it, (you do not have to choose leaves, anything will do, just fit it into the number of body stitches) you do not have to follow any pattern exactly, that is what Deb and I are encouraging with the new book.

Just need to find wooden or leaf buttons.

As it turned out, there is plenty of yarn left sooooooo the boy will get Green Socks, Multi-coloured socks, and likely there will be enough for a striped pair of socks. The cardigan is in a size 6-9 months so it should fit in the right season for the leaves. Hope they like it. To the best of my knowledge, they do not follow this blog so it will be a surprise, I HOPE.

Taking a little Break!

Yesterday Deb and I met to discuss the book. She is teaching this weekend and I am taking a break from the baby book but not from knitting. I have gone off in a new direction (or old direction) and I am currently in a crochet mode.

First of all:

I am still working on the Top Down, Baby, Multi-Gauge, 4 size book together with Deb of Cabin Fever. If you think I am working, you should see how much work Deb is doing. Deb, Dana, and Lynda are all knitting too. Deb is busy working on the written part of the book and then Lynda will do the set-up for printing. They are a great pair of Knitting Sisters. So, if you think I am Knitting a variety of patterns, trust me, there are many many more and in different combinations and gauges. Even the basics are great and they all are in 9 different gauges as well, I cannot stop promoting that idea, it is great.

I had to frog a couple of border pattern samples as we decided to change the edge and the cast-off, so here they are again:

Worked in DK, two border patterns. Just need their buttons sewed on.

Next, two of the newborn baby sock yarn weight samples are also finished in two different border patterns. All patterns work in all weights of yarn, Awesome!!! If they don't work for all gauges they are gone from the book.

Progress on the Latest Cabin Fever Book, Samples & Test Knitting

I have been knitting a lot, and also frogging a LOT.

Number 1: I want to thank Cindy and catsamalea for their wonderful comments on my last post. They are providing great encouragement for me to continue.

Number 2: Deb and I have been meeting, meeting, meeting. Re-writing, re-writing, re-writing. We have also been knitting, testing pattern ideas and coming up with many many very good ideas (that is my opinion, I guess that is a little bragging) and I must admit, also a lot of ideas that will not work for the multi-guage; 4 size pattern range. What works with fingering may not work with chunky, it takes a lot of testing testing testing. I am totally possessed by my addiction and I am loving it. So, I want to thank Deb, big time, for the opportunity to join her in the writing of her latest book. Believe me, she is working the hardest with the layout and the text, I am really really enjoying the whole process. Deb is awesome.

Number 3: Sample pictures speak better than my text, so here are some pictures.

This is my first idea for panel patterns on the basic cardigan, not working, will be frogged, but part of idea will remain.

I have been knitting, not posting. Deb and I are working on the basic baby cardigan for her new book. Next it will be the pattern designing but I do have to comment that the basics are very attractive too. That will be fun. I have been working with the numbers along with the gauges. WOW!!!!! I had no idea how complicated that can be.

Knitting a hoodie for my new grandnephew - to be born in May 2011

Man's Pullover is finished, just need to double check the stitch numbers for all sizes and finish writing the pattern
I think I will name it for my Brothers, Bernard, Robert and Donald

The vest will now be a pullover also, then I will feature it as a vest as well. Thus, three styles, three brothers.
That should work and it will honour them in print as well.

I am also working on the baby book with Deb Gemmell, Cabin Fever. I am so proud she has invited me to participate in the production. It is awesome and the working of the numbers for the 4 sizes in 9 guages is a big job but totally enjoyable. I love numbers almost as much as I love knitting. Deb is a great no-sew designer and I am priviledge to participate. I love to use spreadsheets to work the numbers so I hope I can help with the checking of numbers as well as assisting in the designing. Also the knitting of photo samples.

The vest is coming along, I have finished the first sample of the yoke and now will begin the body. I am satisfied with the look so far.

While I was working on the yoke I realized that the neckline would work for a completely different sweater. Perhaps there will be 2 pullovers and a vest. Who knows! Three designs all similar, but different. Maybe I can work out another neckline for the vest, will it ever end? Oh, well, back to the sticks and string.

2011 Here I Come!

Well the New Year's Celebrations are over. I am now into the winter, into the year 2011, trying to focus on finishing the many ideas for patterns that are bursting out of my brain. I know, an old brain does get a little frustrated when it goes off in all directions. Maybe that all direction problem will help me finish my adult compass pattern. I do have the numbers figured out, I just have to sit down and knit it. The problem is, when I sit down and knit, I start more socks, start crunching the numbers for a new pattern or just knit, knit, knit! But I have been working on the Man's Pullover. I think it will be called ????????. Sorry, brain freeze not sure yet.

I have started the Pullover Vest, it will fit over the pullover on cold days for more warmth or over a shirt just as a vest for cool spring or fall days.

It is funny, the yarn is identical and the picture taken on the same spot in the same light, one looks like a denim blue and the other looks navy. At least that is how it looks on my computer. They will be a matching set and hopefully look good layered. I have a similar set that I knit years ago in heavier yarn and I still wear it and get compliments and questions every time I go out. I hope the men out there like it too.

I have a "Baby Emilee"; "Adult Compass;" and this "Pullover/Vest" set to finish. I will work hard and get them done very very soon. I promise.

Yes, Christmas was great, It's over, keep on knitting. I actually did not stop even on Christmas Day. I don't know how I could handle a day without sticks and string.

Actually I am still working on the left sleeve but I am happy with the outcome and cannot wait to start on the pullover vest. Keep watching, I am knitting.

Of Course, I started a hat

The story behind this one is that I started a scarf that was knit in the round on 4 double pointed needles in heavy yarn. The total stitches were only 48. I had some worsted weight so I put on 60 sts. on circular needles and worked the 12 st repeat, I loved the look of it so I also started a hat with 96 sts on the needle.

Navy socks on the sticks, white ones in the laundry.

Another pair of double mittens on the sticks. These ones are 100% Superwash Wool. Wool for warmth and the Superwash for laundry day. How good is that.

Pullover Progress - the white dots are snow, what else is new?

I was working on the body of the pullover, lot of knitting, and then I couldn't resist working one sleeve just to see how it works. I am happy with the progress, the yarn, and the size. It will fit me!!!!!!!

Back to the sticks and string, I am even doing washcloths, trying to use up my stash.

Adult Compass has been frogged. I did not like the colour effect of the yarn. I will purchase some plain shade and will get it back on the sticks A.S.A.P.

I have been knitting even though I have not posted lately. A few new directions (refer to Compass). I have not been happy with the way the colours work out with the yarn I am using. The colour balance is way off. I like this yarn (Fusion), it feels real soft when knit, but not for Compass. I used it because the gauge was correct and the supply in the stash was ample. Now it is heading for the Frog Pond. I will not give-up Compass for Adults that easy, I just have to purchase some plain coloured yarn. No Problem.

Don't worry Fusion, you will rise again.

I have recently finished another pair of socks. These are mine.

A pair of reversible mittens. No Pattern, just warm mitts for me.

Another pair of socks on the sticks, not sure for who.

Now the other project that I have on my plate is a man's pullover with a pullover vest, knit in 100% wool, warm enough for late fall days and early spring days. When it is a little warmer just the pullover or just the vest over a long sleeved shirt will work too. So far just the pullover is on the sticks but I like it a lot, as I have one that I knit years ago and I still receive compliments on it and I wear it all winter as a jacket with my jeans.

Of course it is multi-directional and no-sew. I am working on the body now, next will be the sleeves, and then the vest. When the knitting is done, just put it on and go outside, you will be warm. This pullover and vest is also good for outdoor ladies too. Next I will get Compass going as well, I have most of the pattern finished, just have to work a sample.

A lot of Knitting for an Adult size

This sample is knit in a multicoloured worsted weight yarn that was resting in my stash. The actual photo samples will likely be in a solid colour, as the textured pattern is nicer in one colour. I am just using up my stash to do the #'s and then a final one will be worked. There are a few glitches for a larger size. The armhole depth and the buttonhole placements are taking a little more calculations than the Baby/Child version did. I am working it out and it will happen. ------ Mommabearknits and she enjoys working the numbers. Keep watching, it will happen soon. OH YEAH, I cannot resist the ideas that pop up in my dreams. I am already thinking about the very warm Pullover with a Vest over it. They will be first on my spread sheet and then on my needles. I thing I will work it in Briggs & Little 100% wool. That way it truly will be very warm to wear even in the middle of winter.

Just for Fun - More Egg Cozies

Serious Knitting - Adult version of Compass

I am still playing with the cozies but my focus now is really on finishing the Compass Pattern. Adult versions are a lot of work to get the samples done. The first sample will fit me. Like I need another knitted cardigan. The first pattern I started got ribbitted because I decided to do more sizes and to juggle the numbers a bit. To Photograph this one, it requires a bit of cuddling up or the picture would be way to wide and not very high. The sleeve panel is very long. First there was just 5 but now there will be seven sizes (Small to 4X). Keep on checking, MommaBearKnits still.

While I was at the Art and Craft Tour in Oro Medonte I was asked if I had ever knit Egg Cozies. So I have now knit Egg Cozies. A local resident loaned me a couple of cozies that she had had for a very long time. She was interested in getting some. I took hers home with me and hauled out some left-over yarn. So far, this is what I have done. I am now starting a more colourful cozy, Red and White and maybe Navy too.

And Yes - The Eggs have been boiled.

Thursday Afternoon we set up for the show at Shanty Bay

Pictures tell it all, no need to ramble.

You may notice the notes all over the walls. The St. Thomas Church members have written memories all over the walls inside the hall. Later this year they are going to begin a renovation which will include a new insulated inner wall. These memories will be under the new wall for all eternity. What a great idea!

I had a wonderful show, sold lot's of merchandise, met some wonderful people and was too busy to take any more pictures. Old friends, new friends and great ideas ---- what could be more enjoyable. The weather was awesome and the church ladies put on a wonderful lunch. Once a year I get to drink my coffee and/or tea from a cup and saucer. Oh yeah! I guess I have to get back on track, November 2011 is just around the corner.

First I am going to write the adulf version of the Compass pattern, finish the Miss Emilee and then I have an idea for an adult sweater and vest. I have one that I knit several years ago and I still get compliments and questions about the style when I wear it today. Keep checking in I will be expanding on the concept of a pullover with a vest.

I am very busy getting ready for the Oro Medonte Craft and Art Show.

Tagging the last of the items and ending the tails on the last few is happening as we speak. Well, at least it was, until I started typing this post. I am ready to go ------- almost!!!!

Today I am finishing up the sale tags for my socks. I have my dining table totally covered with sizes 3 months to Men's Medium. That is a lot of knitting. I am addicted to socks I am afraid.

Just a Plain Test Knit

As usual, I am moving once again in all directions. I just cannot seem to concentrate on one project at a time. While I am still working on Miss Emilee, I have an idea in my head that just jumped out, without any warning. I have always preferred fingering weight yarn for baby garments (from my mommy knitting days) but found that they are a lot of work. I couldn't resist any longer. I cast on the stitches and am working a small size plain cardigan, just to get the numbers down. Then onward and upward (or downward in this case). I will insert some patterns and then I will have a baby set (Cardigan/Hat/Socks) in size 0-18 months.

Miss Emilee is coming along nicely, I have even bought her buttons. She will be done soon as she is knit in DK weight and I have lots of stitch numbers for this one. Just have to work out the lace pattern for all the sizes and button placements.

Because I am addicted to multidirectional knitting, I could not resist. This one is a child size in Worsted. I so enjoyed designing my Teens & Tweens (Cabin Fever) Cabled Hoodie that I wanted to do something with a panel down the centre back and front again. Sooooooo I started a child pullover. I started at the neck and worked down the back and down the front. While working out the numbers I realized that this could be any size and any weight of yarn. Also, any pattern down the centre back and centre front would work as long as it fit into the number of stitches, then it will be easy to work the same pattern down the top of the sleeves. It could be Lace, Cables, Knit and Purl or a combination of two or even more if you where creative, what knitter is not creative.

In order to make a particular size, in any weight of yarn, it would only be important to work out the guage for the neckline. Play around a bit with the numbers to make the ribbing work and then it is easy. I might just do a KAL and a DAL (Design A-long) when I get the pattern finished. Is there such a thing as a DAL, not sure but I just may try it.

The Compass KAL is complete. Later today I will make one last post for the KAL. I will do this again, I enjoyed it very much. The last post will have all the schematics in order. Hopefully it will be visited if anyone has a problem with the placement of the sections. I could not include the detailed schematics on the pattern as it would make the pattern too long. Already it is 6 pages. With the schematics for each section it would be at least two or more pages longer, that is too cumbersome.

I sewed a couple of flower buttons on the hat, just for a change. It would work with tiny flowers, ladybug or beads too.

I also received a picture from Kim, one of the participants, I would love to see more pictures and/or comments from others.

Baby Blanket

I have lots of yarn in my stash, some of it is not my favourite or not what I expected. So, I decided not to let it just sit there, it must be useful for something. Above is my first project (Stash Buster). It is a self patterning DK weight yarn that does not do it for me. I will not say the name of the yarn as I don't want to put a particular brand down when I know that others out there will think it is great. We all have our wants and needs, right! I am working a multidirectional baby blanket, in garterstitch. It is knit double so the colours are all over the place. It will keep a baby warm, that is all that is important, and my stash is reduced a little bit.

Next on my sticks is the Miss Emilee (below) pattern that I am working on. This is the fourth sample, I think I have it down now and can move on to writing it.

Hoodie Pullover for my Stock

Above is a size 12 mos. pullover version of my hoodie pattern. It has not been written but if you are experienced at all you can make any cardigan (or almost any) a pullover when you work no-sew knitting.

And last but not least I am still working on socks. Above is two pair; one is a man's size medium and the other is a man's small or a woman's medium. I know the colours don't look like they match but they are all knit with the same colour yarn and they do match up better when actually viewed face to socks. The yarn is Kroy Socks FX, Clover Colors.

I have just posted Section 5 of the Baby/Junior Compass. We are on the home stretch. I must admit that I am enjoying the journey and the blog posts will remain if at any time a knitter has a question re: the Mulitidirectional Compass pattern. It will also work if I get back on track and write an adult version. I have been asked to use Worsted Weight Yarn for this one, then it will work as a cardigan and/or a jacket. Keep watching, by the first snow fall, I expect I will have it written. I am still working on my latest baby sweater. It will be top down, no sew, with lace edge trim. I am considering the name. I think it will be called "Miss Emilee".

I am working on the baby cardigan/hat/socks that I displayed a few days ago. Some progress has been made. I am working on my fourth sample, and two sizes so far. I have decided that the pattern will only be one version with the diamond lace border. I have also named her, yes this one will be designed for a baby girl. But don't worry, there will be a boy version to follow shortly, perhaps it will have a reverse stocking stitch pattern instead of the lace. Originally I was going to include both options in the same pattern but with the name I have chosen, it will definitely be a girls design.

I usually make several samples, working out the final version, when designing and then I knit several of the sizes when the design is finished for the photo opp. Mommabear keeps on knitting.

Jumped the Gun I Guess!

I guess I should have realized that PatternFish has become a very busy site and it will take a few days for Junior Compass to be posted. I should have waited a few days before displaying it on my blog. Oh well, live and learn. I am working on another pattern right now. One that I have been visualizing in my head for some time. If you follow my postings you will have seen that the first effort was frogged. The second effort, NOT!! but it still did not completely satisfy my wishes. It will be finished and hopefully worn by some little baby.

I started it again and this time I am satisfied with the neckline, so hopefully I can move on to the finish line.

The only thoughts I have with this one is that I should have worked the lace trim with a slightly smaller needle. I do try to limit the number of needle sizes that are necessary in a pattern just for convenience of the knitter but the lace is a bit too loose for the body of the cardigan.

I am moving right along with the pattern.

I am finishing the sleeve on the green one and I will try smaller needles to see how that works.

Butterscotch approves Junior Compass #10-004

My name is Butterscotch and I am wearing the smallest size (preemie) Baby Compass and I am wrapped up in the largest (10 yrs) Junior Compass. It is hot but I still wanted to have a hug and say goodbye to the big guy. Junior Compass is suitable for both girls and boys, just place the buttons on the opposite side. Hopefully the pattern pictures will be finalized by tomorrow (Monday) and then it will be on Patternfish.

Not a great picture but it is a great hug!

Now MommaBear will get back to her sticks and strings. A new baby cardigan/hat/socks pattern is in the works. Lot's of samples to do before MommaBear lets her patterns out in cyberworld for all knit -- I hope.

Visited the Frog Pond!!!!!

Yes, I called the Frog Pond Rep into my world to do the job. I goofed with the numbers, even though I liked the overall look of my latest design project, I decided that the best decision was to frog it and start again.

My number calculations were a little off and the fronts were a little too wide when the band was finished.

Originally I worked the front band in a K2, P2 rib. It did not grab me when finished so I went with a seed stitch pattern instead. I like that better. I still have to work out some calculations with the front lapel slant but I think this one will be finished, perhaps not the final version, but it will likely earn a spot in my craft show stock and hopefully will cuddle a tiny beautiful baby this winter. It is worked in Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed DK. I am still looking at doing the final pattern in fingering.

Designing is my Passion

I have finished the knitting and sewing in the ends on 4 samples of Jr. Compass, now I just have to shop for buttons and then the pattern will be out there for all to see. It will be uploaded to Patternfish Monday August 16 at the latest.

Now, I have been wanting to do another "Newborn - 18 Month" baby cardigan similar to Sam, Sadira, and Katie only with a more slanted front band and without a collar.

Ta Da!!!! This is my first attempt,

A little rough around the edges, but it is close to what I want

a little short but it is just a trial knit

my plan is to eliminate the collar, the problem is the cast on leaves a corner ridge on the edge of the neckline, this one is started with a provisional cast-on, seems to work better.

It will be a little more complicated to write but I think it will work fine. I do like the bottom edge pattern that I chose, I think that will stay. When you do top down you have to choose a lace pattern that works when you work back and forth and also in the round for the sleeves. At least without a collar, I don't have to consider how it looks from the bottom of the pattern up and from the top of the pattern down. That can be a problem when there is a collar. Also this one is not to girly, it should work for baby boys too.

The first (of many) attempts is being worked in DK, but I think I just may go back to my old love of fingering weight yarn. I have always been a fan of fine yarn.

Sock It To Me!

I have quite a few balls of Bernat Jr. Jacquards in my stash. I like it very much and have knit several baby cardigan/hats/sock sets with it and will likely do more. I Pulled out a ball and decided to make baby socks for my craft sale stock. When I make items with self patterning yarn I usually just let the colour changes happen when they want to but after I had finished the first two socks I realized that the pattern repeat was quite large and I wasn't really happy with the socks as a pair as the colour stripes were wide and not even the same colours appeared on such a small project. But I also do not want to waste yarn trying to match up the pattern, so I just kept on knitting socks (tiny baby socks) and I expected that sooner or later I would have a pair. Guess what, sock number seven was almost an exact repeat of sock number one. So I just kept on knitting and as I completed each sock they became pairs. I got to sock number eleven and was at the end of the ball. I went back to my stash, checked out a few balls and found one that was almost at the same place in the pattern. I think I only had to discard about 20 inches of yarn to get to the repeat of the pattern. Now I have six pairs (matching pairs) of baby socks and one less ball in my stash. The pairs are not exact matches but very close. I have numbered them although they are not likely the order that they were knit.

I really am a sock nut but I am also working hard on my last sample of Jr. Compass. When finish I will have four samples, out of the five sizes that the pattern contains. I will have size 2, 4, 6 & 10 and a couple of hats to match very soon and the pattern will be posted on Patternfish as soon as the photos are finished.

Awesome Vacation

I toured Banff and Lake Louise over the last 6 days. My Daughter and I visited my granddaughter who is working at the Lake Louise breathtaking hotel. We spend our time touring the area, Lake Louise, Banff, Sulphur Mountain, The Ice Fields, etc, etc, etc. I cannot even remember everything and all the places we visited. I will have to sit down and study all the pictures to know just how many awesome adventures we three generations of loving women actually had. Fabulous Fabulous adventure.

My Daughter and My Granddaughter, I am sooooooo proud of them both.

Progress, Even in the Heat Wave!

It is still hot. There must be another word to describe the temp other than hot!!!!! But I am slowly making progress. Finished another pair of children's socks and I finished the size 10, Jr. Compass. Still have to end the yarn tails and find buttons but the being covered with a Chunky Weight Jacket is done!!!!!!

Here it is, resting comfortably in the grass (more weeds that grass, I am afraid)

but it is my space and I love it in the shade, especially these days.

Now a question: What is wrong with my Christmas Cactus. Blooming in the hottest days of summer, what is that all about.

it is loaded with buds ready to burst. I guess it loves the outdoors too. I enjoy my hanging garden. The cactus will bloom all summer long outside, then it will come in and bloom again

several times in the morning sunshine window.

Until it cools down, Mommabear will knit small items ---- but she will keep on knitting.

On July 28 I am heading for Lake Louise with my daughter to visit my granddaughter Sarah. I will enjoy the cool mountains for sure.

Hot Weather, is slowing me down!

Knitting in a heat wave takes a little more planning.

I had to revert back to little projects to survive

the 35 plus degree celsius/95 Farhenheit very humid temp.

Sooooooo I did some socks and even worked on a dishcloth.

After all, Mommabear does have to knit, you know.

We also had a nice birthday gathering for Mary, she is awesome.

Working on a size 10 with chunky yarn becomes a bit of a challenge,

especially when you get to the body, it feels like a blanket,

and that blanket is not needed in this weather, even with a great big cooling fan.

But now with the rain the temperature is getting back to normal and I am getting back to

Jr. Compass. I am almost done the third sample, just have to work a hat and then

the pattern is ready !!!!! Yeah.

I have to knit about another 10 inches of the body and then I am done!

Baby Hats Are Coming Out My Ears!!!!!!

At this time I have 26 newborn size hats. (trust me, I have many many hats in all sizes in my stock). Hopefully some of the newborn hats will be selected by a Barrie area Baby Portrait Photographer who I am meeting with tomorrow morning, the others will accompany me to the Oro Medonte Arts and Craft Tour November 12 & 13, 2010.

I will be set up at the Shanty Bay location.

Oh my Gawd, how can I think about Christmas Craft Shows on the hottest day of the summer. It is sunny today and the temperature is 29 Celsius/84.2 Fahrenheit at 9:00 a.m.

- What will it be by Noon?

Ruster Cruster and I have already finished our daily 2 killometre/1.24 mile walk

before it gets any hotter.

Back to the needles and string, sitting in front of a large fan.

That can't be all bad, right?

"Jr Compass" in the LimeLight!

I have been working on the Jr. Compass Pattern. I have decided to call it "Jr. Compass" as it is the toddler/child version of "Baby Compass". At first I was calling it Jr. "C" but feel that it needs to have that special "Compass" Conection. Below is the size 6 sample. Jr. Compass will be more of a jacket than Baby Compass which is worked in DK weight yarn.

Next, size 2 and 6 are just hanging out together, enjoying the nice summer day.

Both samples are knit in Patons Shetland Chunky. I still have to knit at least one size of the hat, for the photo that will be placed on the front page of the pattern. Watch for it, it is almost ready to go. I predict that it will be up and running early in July 2010. Have a Happy Canada Day everyone.

I have one more sample to finish shown below.

This sample is size 10, also worked in Patons Shetland Chunky; colour is Blue Jean Varigated. I have to admit that the texture of the pattern shows much better in a plain shade, but I do love Blue Jeans so here it is in varigated.

I promised pictures from our road trip.

Didn't get any.

We car pooled to Huntsville, and when we got to Knitting Three Together, we put our purses in the trunk of the car so we could just concentrate on knitting and not have to carry anthing but our knitting bags. It wasn't my car, so I didn't have the keys.

Guess what, the camera was in my purse.

We had a great time

Oh, yeah, when I am in a yarn shop, I always carry a little cash in my pocket, just in case I touch a ball or two that I cannot resist. Yes, I confess, I added to my stash. What else is new.

The poll is done. While there was only 6 votes, I learned something. All six of the votes stated that they were followers. That is good, as I can expect them to return to my blog on a regular basis. One of the six also stated that the visit was the result of a designer search. One other (or the same one) stated that the visit was the result of a referral. Hopefully, my followers will grow in numbers and I look forward to more comments. I don't mind suggestions for improvements as well as compliments. After all, suggestions will help me to make changes and be better at my craft. I am going on a Knitting Guild Road Trip later today --- Will be a great networking event. This will be our guild's last meeting until September. We are going to meet for dinner and then spend some quality time, at Knitting Three Together in Huntsville. Huggy Bear Sample is complete. At the top is the sample for a baby boy and the second one is for a baby girl. I will download some new pictures onto the pattern and re-submit for sale on Patternfish. There is absolutely no pattern changes just a little upgrade to the sentence structure and also a schematic is added.

And here is my DK weight socks. Heavy and warm, very warm - 100% wool. These will have to go to someone who understands that you hand wash and lay flat to dry. But they will be super comfortable and very very warm. Will be good for outdoor guys in the middle of the winter.

Progress Report!

MommaBear is still knitting. I have finished the two new samples for Huggy Bear (Wrap Cardigans and Hats); they are still on the drying rack; and now I am working on finishing the Toddler/Child version of Baby Compass. It will likely be done by the weekend. But then I only had one (can you believe it, ONLY ONE) project on my needles. Soooooo I started knitting some wool, DK weight socks. I don't usually do socks in DK but these will be heavy work/sporty style adult size socks. Progress pictures will follow in a day or two. In the meantime "Jr C - Jacket" spent some time relaxing in the trees in my back yard, just to show off her progress. I am calling it a her, because the colour and the style seems to be more girly than boyish when you get to the larger sizes. The baby sizes are great for baby boys or girls. This one is size 6; the pattern will be five sizes ranging from 2 - 10 yrs. when it is finished. It is in Chunky yarn, not my favourite, but for this project it works real well. Perhaps I will get to be a fan of chunky after all.

I am currently finishing up my last new sample for the Huggy Bear revision. I cannot finish one project without starting another. I have had some comments that Baby Compass would be nice in a size 2 - 10 yrs. Soooooooooo --------- It is started. This time I choose to use Patons Shetland Chunky (it was in my stash). My favourite yarn weights are fingering and DK but that would be a lot of knitting in DK. I think I will call it Jr. "C" but I have not not decided on the name for sure yet. The Chunky yarn will make it more of a warm Jacket for outdoors, instead of a Cardigan. Section # 1 is complete. Onward and upward, in every direction of the compass.

I guess I have to say that not all addictions are bad ----- MommaBearKnits and She Designs Too.

Hoodie Bear is updated and will soon be posted on Patternfish replacing the current version. There are no changes in the pattern construction or the #'s; just a few clarifications of the written instructions and I have added a hat and a schematic. (below)

As I posted last time, I am re-knitting my samples for Hoodie Bear and Huggy Bear. Hoodie Bear and the Collared Version is complete and ready to be uploaded onto the pattern.

And I am almost 1/2 way with the first new sample of Huggy Bear. I think I will do the Yellow one as a baby girl's "HUG" and then I will knit a boyish colour for a baby boy's "HUG".

It is a beautiful day in Orillia, so I can knit out under the Gazebo. How good is that? Besides, I am all alone for the weekend. I can knit all day with only the Ruster Cruster to distract me, and believe me he does distract me, but I love him anyway.

Still working on new Samples for Hoodie Bear. The pattern won't change, just the pictures. There is an option in the pattern that is the same cardigan worked with a collar instead of a hood. So, two in one, that can't be all bad.

I have been loving my Baby Compass way too long and now I am missing my Baby. I am feeling a little distracted so I have decided to re-work my Huggy Bear and Hoodie Bear samples in Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed DK for new pictures and an update of the patterns in preparation for an upcoming designers' group that will be in the works, soon. In the meantime there are lots of ideas in my brain, fighting to get out. Last night I started Hoodie Bear and I will likely start Huggy Bear and work on both of them over the next week or so. Home Stretch!!!!!

Seven Samples have been completed. One in every size and a couple in the middle sizes. I like to work all sizes to confirm the #'s; besides I like to knit.

Who would have thought that the drawing above would become a fabulous journey in all directions and then return home again.

Just one more to finish. This one is size 18 months. It will done later today and then I have to get my pattern checked one more time for typos, poor sentence structure, pictures taken, and then off to http://www.patternfish.com/ . I did not make my May 10/10 goal but it won't be long now.

There will also be a hat included in the pattern.

Progress: For the Compass

Well, I have sent the pattern off to Deb for her comments. I am always sad when my patterns are out there, they no longer are my babies. I am still working on the samples. When I am totally finished Baby Compass will appear on Patternfish. http://www.patternfish.com/

I am now on the southern route to homeland. Then I will work at least one more sample in Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed DK for the photo op. I also have a red one on the same southern route in

Patons True North DK.

The pattern will include the hat as well. So I will have to knit it in the Denim, Oh Dear, what a task!!!

Above is a picture of the underarm, that will be closed with a three needle cast off and the end of the yarn used for the cast off will also be used to close any gap that appears at the underarm. Then it will be done.

Above is the finished sleeve. As you can see, in the cardigan picture at the beginning of posting, one sleeve is finished and the other one is not.

Last night at our guild meeting I was proud to be part of the Teens & Tweens, Cabin Fever Sweaters & Accessories book. I also passed around my pattern in progress, just for feedback from the others in the group. It was a great night, and now I am truly on the home stretch, not sure which direction of the compass the final path it is but I am looking forward to completing the journey.
