Not Forgotten - I'M BACK

Coming up real soon (November 12 and 13) is the 17th Annual Christmas Art & Craft Tour in Oro Medonte .  Once again, I am planning to participate and offer my projects for sale, they really want to be wrapped around your beautiful babies, grand babies, neices, nephews and just babies, babies and more babies.

Once again it will be held at four locations. It is a great tour for Christmas Shopping and just to enjoy the tour itself and stop for lunch as well.

In the followiing weeks, I will be updating my stock list and posting pictures, pictures, and more pictures.

13 Days to Go!

Well I am working hard and almost ready.  Thirteen Days to go, then I will know what I will do over the next 12 months, will I be getting ready for the 2010 Tour or will I be going in a new direction?  Whatever happens, I will still be knitting on into the night.  Today I visited several craft shows in the area, just to see what is being featured.  Not a whole bunch of knitting but I did see some really cute doggie sweaters, they were awesome.  Looking at what is out there, I think I will be well within the range and there were not a lot of baby/children garments just lots of scarves, mittens, dish cloths, stuffed teddies, Christmas decorations and of course, doggie sweaters.  Very few children socks and sweaters so I should do ok. 

My little models are all ready to shine.  Thanks to my Big Brother, Bernard for the work he put into these wooden display units for me. 

I have also been busy making stock lables and pricing the projects.  So far for stock numbers I am at number 122 with still more to go.  I think there will be no problem filling the space.  Hope to see lots of people at the St. Thomas Church Hall in Shanty Bay, Oro Medonte.  Remember I will be there Friday November 20 and Saturday November 21.  After it is over I will post how it went.

Huggy Bear - On The Way

Today I sent my Baby off to the pattern checker. Hope I sleep tonight. My Baby is out there alone and being examined row by row by row. I understand that Mary is a kind and gentle person and will be fair.

Guess what----- I can hardly wait to get the feedback. Keep in touch I will be posting the results.

Now I am working on "Hoodie Bear". The plan for Hoodie is a cardigan with a hood and as an alternative, with a collar and a hat. Two patterns in one. Oh yeah! I am still working on one more sample of Huggy Bear and have started a sample of Hoodie. Oh, and I am still knitting socks.

Huggy Bear Will Really Happen! Wow!

"Huggy Bear" will be, will be. I want to thank Deb for her encouragement and of course, Jo-Anne for her comments on my blog. The white Huggy was just a wandering in my mind with my sticks and string. I was just playing around with my "Do the #'s" and I didn't even write it down, just knitted on for pleasure. I have now completed a real one, size Preemie, with the pattern on paper. I, of course, am pretty careful about all the sizes working so now I am knitting a size 12 months to see just how that looks, will it be too babyish for the toddler size 18 months, or will it work even for a little girl, perhaps sizes 2-8 with a little embelishment. I will likely do one more before I actually submit the pattern, hopefully to a pattern checker, if she will have me, and then I will polish up the layout, fix the typos, correct the mistakes and submit it to PatternFish. Wow, what a rush.

Oh, yeah! I finished my hand dyed yarn socks. They were so much fun to do that I knit on into the night. Love them. Cannot wait to get some more hand dyed yarn and try another pattern. This is very unusual for me, I always just knit my socks the way my mom taught me many many moons ago.

Moving Right Along!

Disappointed that the fabulous colour doesn't stand out in the picture. The pattern is a pretty simple and easy to do without constantly checking the chart. There is a diagonal cross pattern that is worked so that the columns on one sock are knitted with a left leaning stitch while the other sock with a right leaning stitch. Pretty cool eh!

I am also disappointed that the pattern does not stand out better in the picture but it is very pretty with the beautiful colours of the yarn. I am working both socks at the same time as I only have one skein so I want to keep an eye on the amount left to finish the socks.

I am getting back to my pattern designing------ the next project will be the crossed front Huggy Bear. I think it can work for a boy or a girl depending on the trim.

Well I am on the home stretch for my first baby leaflet which will include three different but somewhat the same baby cardigans. The white one above will be placed on hold for now and will get the opportunity to shine soon. Remember Baby "K"? Well now it has been upgraded, changed a bit, and has become "Katie". The lace trim version is "Sadira" named for my new grand neice Sadira, a.k.a. Sadie which will be the name of the basic cardigan that is also included in this pattern. I am fine tuning the writing and once again, with a sad heart will part with Sadira, Sadie & Katie a.k.a SSK and send them off into the knitting world. This whole process will still be dependent on Deb and Lynda of course.

I am also working on hats! hats! hats! Deb has decided to publish a hat book with a very unique turn. All the hats will be compatible with any yarn weight; from fingering (my fav), DK (second fav), Worsted (least fav), and Chunky (not my choice). It is a real challenge but one that I am willing to meet (or try to meet). I am looking forward to seeing all the hat designs from all the very different designers that are truly dedicated "Friends of Cabin Fever." This book will be a new kid on the block for sure. So, everyone, sort through your stash, this hat book will eat into your stash big time; that will make room for more stash, how good is that?

Baby Patterns - Still at It

Finished my hoodie size 12 months. Had another gramma take it home and try it on her grandchild for feed back. Report was that the hood was too wide and needed to be reduced in size. I am working on that as we speak. I see no reason why the red one won't make some little person warm anyway, even if the hood is a little large.

Worked out my choice for the basic cardigan, knit it in Navy with Lady Bug Buttons. It really is cute but I have learned that no matter how cute a cardigan is it still needs to photograph well and I am afraid this one doesn't. Both of these are knit in Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed 45% Cotton/55% Acrylic.

Now I am working on the hoodie again (below), same size, downsizing the hood and trying to maintain the #'s. I think it will be fine.

This is my new version (new sizing anyway) the style is already finalized for the rest of the garment. This sample is knit in Sirdar, Country Style from my stash.

CrusterRuster and MommaBear Still Doing Very Well

I started out with my Baby "K". Did the #'s, worked out the pattern in all 5 sizes (Preemie; 3 mos; 6-9 mos; 12 mos; 18 mos). One would expect that to be it, done, finished, onward and upward to another project. Not!!!!

Next I got the idea that the #'s should work for lots of other designs, both cardigans and pullovers. So I dug right in. So far I have Baby "K"; basic cardigan and basic pullover. That was not enough. Next I started a cardigan with a very grown up look. It contains knit/purl diamonds and knit/purl stripes. Sample in progress below and above. It is in size 18 mos and worked in Sirdar Country Style DK.

The blue pullover is in size 3 mos. worked in Berroco Comfort DK.

The tiny green cardigan is size Preemie, also in Berroco Comfort DK. I plan to do several in all the sizes, some will be striped, some with a colour pattern, perhaps lace, definitely cables, even girly ruffles if the mood strikes me. Until we meet again, CrusterRuster is keeping my bed warm, patiently waiting for me to put those sticks away and WALK!!!!

It is the Weekend !!!!! Summer is Trying, Very Trying!!!!

It is beautiful here in Lake Country today, a little cool but sunny and quite breezy. This morning I walked the bugler and he dragged me into the woods and stopped at a wild apple tree. I could not resist taking a little bouquet home for the dining table, I like wild stuff and it is just as pretty as any florist's work of art. Chocolate, of course, jumped at the chance for a photo op. Isn't he just too cute...........

Now on to the creative stuff. I have placed Baby "K" on hold for now, until Deb crawls out from under her huge project..... "The Baby "V" Neck Cardigan Booklet." Judging from what I have seen so far it will be great. The pictures are just soooooooo cute.

What I am doing now is taking my baby "K" numbers and working each size in a somewhat basic design; cardigans and pullovers with the neckline that I used for the Baby "K" Jacket (or Cardigan, not sure yet what to call it). While checking the #'s for each and every size, usually one of the five just don't jive and it takes a little tweeking, I will let the creative juices flow and work different patterns, such as Colours, Lace, Cables, Knit and Purl patterns and whatever else enters my my head while working, lazing around and even sleeping. Dreams are an amazing source for the creative spirit.

This is the first go at it .........Preemie cardigan with seed stitch borders. I am now working on a pullover with pockets and a ribbed border in a size 3 Mos. Both of these are knit in Berroco Comfort DK. Next size, next style, I will use another yarn just for the fun of it.
