KAL is finished

Callum sizse 3 is finished.
I have finished Callum KAL; my sample anyway, hope others are progressing well too.  Next I am going to design a similar pattern for Children, I think it will be size 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12.  Keep watching, because MommaBearKnits & Designs for Children too.

First Sample Finished

The first Sample is finished and is laying outside on a towel, getting dry.  I have already started a second sample in the largest size to check the pattern while knitting it and check that the size works also.

This one is a size 2 worked in Patons Canadiana Yarn.

I must admit that I did not devote all my knitting time to working out this pattern.  It requires concentration and sometime I just like to sit and knit out of my head, so I have completed 2 pair of socks and am almost finished the 3rd pair.  It is summer now so it is too hot for handknit socks but it will be cool again in the fall.  These ones are strictly stash busters.  They will all fit me, so I can keep my feet warm in the fall and winter, while I walk the RusterCruster in the snow, Yuk! did I say SNOW?

Now I must go and knit some more, following the pattern very carefully ------ Then you know what will happen, don't you?

MommaBearKnits around the clock, sitting in my chair, riding in the car, enjoying the outdoors, I still knit all the time.

It's Looking Good

I am still knitting every row, writing it, checking it, and then doing it all again.  I now have the Body written out and almost knit down to the bottom border.  It will be a K2, P2 rib.  Then the sleeves, once I write and knit one sleeve, then I can knit the other one without writing as I knit.  .

Getting Down to It, Big Time

Now the panel journeys begin:

The Back Centre Panel is worked first to raise the back of the neckband.  The number of stitches are selected for each section.  When working the set up row for the Back Panel and also the Front Panel, the stitches are increased to allow for the Cables.  The side of the neck stitches and the front panel stitches are placed on scrap yarn, to be used later.

The Back Centre Panel is knit to the required length, and the required number of rows to accommodate the number of stitches needed for the Shoulder Panels.  Then the yarn is broken and the panel is placed on Scrap Yarn.

The stitches are picked up along the side of the Back Centre Panel and then the Right Shoulder Panel is worked on the picked up stitches and the side of the neck stitches.  I have worked out the numbers for the Shoulder Panel to equal the number of stitches on the Centre Back Panel - that way the same Panel Pattern works for all three of the Panels.

Just a few more rows and the Right Shoulder Panel is complete.

Cabled Pullover Progress Report

The initial sample is coming along.  I have started working the sleeves.  The pattern will likely be a little simpler to accommodate the sizes.

It does help that it is the only project on my needles at the present time.  When I finish the initial sample then I can sit down and start writing the pattern while knitting another sample concentrating on each section with details for the changes in the sizes.  Not sure yet, how many sizes, hopefully  2 - 12 yrs.

Progress Report

Progress:  I have worked past the underarm and started working the body.  Still a lot of work as this is the first sample, still have to write the pattern in detail allowing for all sizes.  A lot of work ahead but I love knitting and designing for babies and toddlers.

Front View

I am now working on the body in the round.  Yes it is multidirectional, but also goes Round & Round.

Back View

This sample has a cable running down the side where there is usually a seam, oh yeah, no seams in my work!!  Hope I can keep it worked in the numbers for all the sizes.  We will see how that works out soon.

Side Cable, hope it stays!!!
In the meantime MommaBearKnits and Designs day and night.

Cable Pullover Progress

I am making progress.  Not sure yet how it will work for all the sizes but I think I have solved a few problems.
I LOVE MULTI-DIRECTIONAL NO-SEW KNITTING!!!!!  It is especially fun when you combine the two.

Progress: For the Compass

Well, I have sent the pattern off to Deb for her comments.  I am always sad when my patterns are out there, they no longer are my babies.  I am still working on the samples.  When I am totally finished Baby Compass will appear on Patternfish.  http://www.patternfish.com/

I am now on the southern route to homeland. Then I will work at least one more sample in Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed DK for the photo op.  I also have a red one on the same southern route in
Patons True North DK.
See the hat below in Red, also in True North DK.

The pattern will include the hat as well.  So I will have to knit it in the Denim, Oh Dear, what a task!!!

Above is a picture of the underarm, that will be closed with a three needle cast off and the end of the yarn used for the cast off will also be used to close any gap that appears at the underarm.  Then it will be done.

Above is the finished sleeve.   As you can see, in the cardigan picture at the beginning of posting, one sleeve is finished and the other one is not.

Keep in Touch, Baby Compass will be out there real soon!!!!!!
