Baby "K" is done.

I have finished the sample, size 6-9 months. The picture is my progress to this morning. The finished jacket is now resting on a towel, drying, and tomorrow I will sew on the buttons, and post a picture. The size worked out to be exactly what I wanted, the tension (5.5 sts = 1 inch) works really well using size 3.75 mm needles and the Cabin Fever Cotton Tweed DK. Now I must finish the writing of the pattern. That is not as easy as it may seem. That is another reason why I do so many samples, it may look good in my head but when I knit the different sizes there is alway a glitch of some sort and the numbers just don't jive when you are doing 4 or five sizes. There is always one that needs a little crunching of the numbers. The neckline, yoke depth, body measurement must all come together and finally the twist stitch pattern must be worked into a multiple of three plus 1 in order to work the increases and having both sides of the front match. I think I will work out a hat to match, that would go good with the blanket. Until we meet again ----- MommaBearKnits.

Cabin Fever Pattern in Progress

My name is Chocolate and I approve this photo!!!!!
MommaBear is working on a baby pattern, that she hopes will be accepted and published by Deb and Linda under the category of "Friends of Cabin Fever". I sure hope they like it. Come back a little later there will be more pictures of the testing that she did to get to the final design. Can you believe it, she completed 5 others before she settled on the final style. Oh well, some little baby will benefit by the testing garments. I am wearing a poncho that was made for me by MommaBear. I love it still, even after all the time that I have been wearing it. Maybe she will make me a little Baby "K" when she is done.

IS IT OK TO ADMIT THAT I ALSO CROCHET?

Well just a bit of a break, and to use up some more stash, and to keep me (or someone I care about) warm in this Canadian Winter. I know it (winter) is on the downside this year but it will come storming back before we know it. Oh yeah, it is snowing again today.

This colourful afghan lives on my chair from November through to Spring, whenever that is. I crocheted it a couple of years ago. That was the last time I fell off the knitting wagon. It is a pattern that I made many years ago (probably 25 - 30 years ago) I cannot even remember just how many I made, but, plenty as everyone at work wanted one and so did my dad. He liked his so much that he cajoled me into making one for his neighbour as well, as a thank you for their kindness.

This green one is the one that I made for him many years ago, he kept it on his couch until he moved on to a retirement home and then it lived on his bed until he passed away ten years ago, I welcomed it back into my arms and still display it on Jerry's chair each winter. The pattern is somewhere in my stash of books and old patterns but I just play it by ear, it is real easy to play around with different colour widths and plaid layout, I think it would also be nice in one colour, kind of like a woven blanket. Maybe I will try that some day. Also along with the green (he was Irish) I also gave a loving home to Vanilla, his polar teddy bear. Vanilla now resides as one of my baby bears in a basket in full view when I am on the computer. Vanilla, Butterscotch and Chocolate enjoy wearing some of my creative knitting.

Now for my work in progress. I am a denim freak, I would live in my Jeans and Denim shirt if I was allowed. Thank goodness we do have a jean friday policy at work. That helps. So, I decided to use a big bag of Bernat Denimstyle yarn and make a plaid afghan, why not? I am still working on my baby sweaters, baby blanket and for the moment have abandoned my size 2 mm dbl points and my super fine sock yarn.

That is it for now. Oh yeah, Rusty the Cruster Ruster also likes the afghans when he comes in out of the cold.
Bye for now,

Remember the 8 Sock = How many pair question

Well here I go, with the help of Deb I have calculated that 8 random coloured and patterned socks can give me the option of 28 pairs. Tomorrow I will wear pair # 1, 27 days to go. Do you see my knitted table cloth under the socks, fine knitting is really my passion but time does not allow me the pleasure.
MommaBear has been knitting in Fushia, Green & Purple because she is a kook.

Socks and Baby Sweater

I have finished a size 3 mos. baby sweater, already I have changes that I intend to incorporate into the final version. I have also finished my multi coloured socks. I like them, I guess that is all that matters. I of course am always accompanied by my beloved grandpet. My cold is gone, I am back to walking the bugle every day. The cough is settling down. Life is good in my world.

Baby Sweater

I am working on a baby sweater pattern. Perhaps matching hat, leggings, mittens, booties, socks who knows what will come out of this work in progess. Last year I was very proud, as I always am, to be included as a designer with Cabin Fever the Knitting Sisters ( http://www.cabinfever.ca/ and http://cabinfeverknittingdesigns.blogspot.com/ ).

Deb, Dana and myself each created a baby blanket and all three were published as one pattern (Three Baby Blankets #801). My contribution was a reversible twisted stitch blanket. We discussed over dinner one night that we should each create a matching baby garment pattern to match our blankets. That was some time ago but now I have the urge to do it. I am using stash yarn (DK Marble) to work out the kinks. The first(of several no doubt) sample is in a three month size. See my progess in the pictures. I am also working the blanket as well, as, I do have a niece expecting a baby and it will be put to loving use I am sure. My youngest grandchild is 13 now so it has been a while since a new baby has arrived in my immediate family.

Signing out once again

P. S. Please leave a comment and vote in my poll. I personally love fingering the best but usually work in DK as it is more practical.

BACK ON TRACK

I am finished the Crazy 8's (socks) as posted earlier and now I am working on a sort of normal pair of socks. I love the self patterning yarn and because the nicest brands can be very expensive I like to make use of every metre/yard of it. I usually mix in some equal quality but plain (cheaper) yarn to make one 100 gr. ball shine in two pairs of socks. This pair is using the left overs from another pair that also used plain yarn for the sole of them. Of course I do not have real big feet either. This would not work for men's larger socks. I don't know how I can find time to wear them all but hey----life is good and my feet are warm.
Signing out with the statement -------

Last Night We Partied Today We Rest.

Happy New Year to all you beloved Grandpets, especially the Bugle Beagles that are as lucky as me. Who says a beagle must be a Hound Dog, I say, we have every right to be an ottoman potato. I lay here when Gramma knits in her chair behind me. I also serve by contributing a small/or large sample of dog hair into each and every project. Life is good, Thanks SPCA for allowing my adoption. We have been together for almost two years now and life is good. The old folks are a little boring, but, the kisses are unbeleivable and hugs galore.
Happy New Year to you all.
