19 Days since my last Post, That is bad!!!

I have been in a hiatus for the last two plus weeks.  But, Deb don't worry, I am still knitting, and trying to write this pattern out so that you can get through it.  That is not easy, but I am now on the home stretch.

As always it is real easy to knit out of your head, but making it a written out pattern is the challenge.  But, MommaBear can do it if you push her hard enough, right Deb?
I have also been knitting socks, socks, socks.  Just because I needed a break.  Over the last two weeks my Mother in Law has been in a poor state of health, understandable as she is approaching her 98th Birthday.  But, she is pretty tough and seems to be improving.  She is a resident in LeisureWorld Orillia and they are very good to her.  PoppaBear is the main family caregiver and it has been stressful for him as he is in constant pain with a bad back, knees, hips and bad arthritis.  Getting old is not always fun.  But MommaBearKnits on into the night and it gives her coping capabilites.

Progress Report

First and foremost,  Hoodie Progress

I have written the pattern to the top of the hood.  So, it won't take long to knit the hood.  The neckline is done and I am right at it.

Of course, I also knit several hats since the last posting.

I, actually worked on four and finished three of them, but one was tried on by my granddaughter, Sammie, while she was visiting this weekend and surprise, surprise, it went home to Washago, no picture, but a very warm head will be going on the school bus tomorrow morning.  Now I have one more to finish, and of course more to start.

While I was visiting http://cabinfeverknittingdesigns.blogspot.com/ I saw that Deb was bragging, or, venting  about her supply of needles.  Since she decided to show you hers, I decided to show you mine.

Teen Hoodie Centre Back Panel
I have completed 5 repeats of the 16 row centre panel pattern- 80 rows, very easy repeat pattern
The yarn feels great to work with (Cabin Fever Cottage Colours, 100% Wool).  Soon I will start the front side panels.  Looking good if I do say so myself, after all it is my right to brag - Right?

Christmas is Over for 2009 - Back on Track Moving on into 2010

Finishing up some projects:

These are 100% Wool (ends left over from other projects) Mittens.  Trust me they both are the same.  I knit the hand part twice, placed one inside the other and then worked a single cuff.  Now I have very warm reversible mittens - Very Warm.

Of course I have socks in progress.  Socks are always on my sticks.

Now A New Project is Coming!!!!!

I could not wait to tell everyone that I have started the pattern sample for the Tween Hoodie.  I am sooooooo anxious that I took a picture of the cast on-- I have yet to knit Row 1.  Deb, Dana and I met before Christmas and now we are all on a tight schedule to complete each of our own individual patterns.  Keep in touch, I will be updating my progress.

It's Winter in "(frozen) Lake Country"

Yes it's finally winter in Central Ontario.  But I am OK, lots of stash, lots of needles and a lazy boy chair draped with a warm afghan.  What else does MommaBear need.

I am working on a few projects and some are finished - just need to end the tails, Yuck.
Sweater is size 18 months- just for my stock and the socks are knit with Berroco Sox Metallic.  They fit me but will likely be a gift for someone, not sure who.

My main project right now is the teen hoodie.  I have the design in my head but must work it out so that the pattern can be understandable.  The first try is knit with a back panel and the two front panels worked down from the shoulder.  Then the sides are worked out from the sides, and the front band and hood will be done last.  I have already decided to do the back panel, bottom up, then the two front panels bottom up as well and joined at the shoulder.  Of course there will be no sewing, I will use 3-needle cast-off to join them.
Until next time MommaBearKnits on into the night.

And, of course, I have another pair of socks, just for the mindless knitting periods in my day.  This pair is Bamboo yarn from my stash.

BUSTED!

And I thought I was a big stasher.  Not so much.  I still have to go through the remaining boxes but I have to concede to Cynthia.  Now there is a big stasher.  Thanks Cynthia for your comment.  Now I can shop without guilt.   Yes Cynthia I have reduced my stash since retirement but retirement also gives me more time to shop, however, not as much money to spend, but I can search for sales, Right?  Joy oh Bliss, life is good.

And Deb, you work in one of the biggest stashes ever.  How good can that be - being a partner in the yarn business must be awesome, no end to sifting through and planning projects.

Katrina, thanks for your good wishes.  I always stressed that I could not go until my stash is done, I will try, but I will still shop, how can I not?  Knitting is my addiction and I will do my best to prevent the stash from overtaking me.

Met with Deb today, talked about my hoodie and her teen project.  Back home now, knitting on into the night.

Am I in Trouble?

Today I was expecting a customer to look at my baby garments with the idea to choose a couple for her great granddaughters and also later today I will have a less than 5 lb baby visit and her mom will have the privilege of choosing preemie sized sweaters for the little darling.  So, I went to my closet and sorted out the appropriate sizes and then I became obsessed with my stash that lately has become quite disorganized.  That may have been a big mistake.  After a few hours I find that my stash is taller than me and I still have four cardboard boxes in the spare room with more yarn.  When I am done, my stash will be pushing on the ceiling.  My question now is, Am I In Trouble?  Is yarn stashing addictive just like knitting is?  Do I have multi addiction problems.  I know that gambling addicts can sign up with casino security to be turned away from entering Casino Rama, do I need to notify all the yarn shops to deny my entry?  Should I put my stash in my Will for the next generation or should I just stay around forever until it is all gone.  HELP ME, Please. In the meantime, ---- MommaBearKnits and obviously will for some time to come.  At least I will be warm.

Back on Track - Knitting and Designing

I am back working on the Teen Hoodie.  Deb, Dana, Lynda, Sophie and I have met several times and will meet many more times I am sure.  Each of us are working on a different teen style project.  I have received lots of input and have listened to Grandmoms, Moms, Teens, Knitters and other Designers.  I also listened to my Brain. Now it has begun.  It will be a multi-directional project, at least for now it is.  First step is the centre back panel.

I have worked 10 1/2 inches of the 16 inch centre back.  I am using a large ball of acrylic yarn from my huge stash, just to see how it works. Next I will write the pattern and knit the first sample in Cabin Fever Cottage Colours.  I am working the smallest size to see the project completed.  Then when all the glitches are worked out, I will knit the middle size and then another designer will knit a different size, that way we will have three of the 7 sizes tested (now there are 7 sizes on the spread sheet but it may be taken down to 5 for the finished pattern).

I am still knitting small mindless projects and socks, of course, when I am tired or being distracted by TV, Visiting or Travelling.

As everyone knows ---- MommaBearKnits and Designs on into the night.  See you next time, with more of the Hoodie Project done.

Still Knitting or Knitting Still

While I was at the Christmas Art and Craft Tour in Oro Medonte, of course I needed a project that would not require a great deal of concentration.  So---- I started a size 12 month pullover version of  "Baby J".  It was easy to work while watching the customers, answering questions and making sales.  My no sew and multidirectional concept became quite a subject of conversation and now I have a new project to start my stock increase for the next show or sale that I encounter-Bonus!  This one is worked in Worsted Weight yarn and is a warm spring or fall coat weight pullover.

Don't think It is over for MommaBear, she is still knitting.
